Koper is the nearest railway station. It is served from Ljubljana; the adjacent bus terminal has onward connections to Portorož and Piran. Consult Slovenian Railways for your date and check notices for replacement buses or changed platforms.
Trieste is another gateway for arrivals from Italy. Use Trenitalia for rail connections, then check the Trieste bus station’s international services for an onward journey to Koper. Continue from Koper by local bus or taxi. Tourist board rail guide.

Look up Ljubljana–Portorož services with Ljubljana Bus Station. A connection via Koper is another option. For the coastal leg, consult Arriva or the local bus guide.
